The New Chinatown Of Bangkok Uncovered

There is a Chinatown in Bangkok worth visiting and it is not located in Yunnan nor can it be found in Yaowarat Road. This new Chinatown is not even close to the original one where it is slowly changing because of developments and modernization. It is located in the HuaiKhwang district of Bangkok and can be found in the one half-kilometre road that stretches through the Pracha Rat Bamphen. To get to this new hub, tourists should book a hotel near Bangkok subway as it is easier to access. This is where they will be able to experience the Chinese culture as well as delve into the businesses offered by Chinese.

Looking at the left and ride side of the road, one can see Chinese signs everywhere. There are shops selling mala hot pot, gyoza from the northern part and tender pork dishes which are originally from the province of Yunnan.

The location is dubbed as the new Chinatown and tourists and locals alike are tempted to dine and wine as well as experience other Chinese cuisine which is not too common in the regions of Thailand.

The obvious difference between the place and the original Chinatown is the lock of temples or shrines, there is no Chinatown Gate and there is no presence of Chinese associations or clans in the area.

According to ChadaTriamvithaya, a researcher that specializes in Chinese migration in the country, at this point of time the place can be referred to as a Chinese hub since it is still on the developing phase. It cannot be considered Chinatown yet because settlement is necessary. It is a hub since Chinese New Year celebration means the place is empty as everyone else goes back to their homes. In the case of Yaowarat, associations are present in the area and none in HuaiKhwang.

In the last twenty years, many Chinese have relocated from Hong Kong and Taiwan because the rent in Thailand is reasonable, accessible to roads and the Chinese embassy is near. Tourists staying at hotel near Bangkok subway will only need to walk a minute as soon as they exit MRT HuaiKhwang.

Team Building Activities Help School Students Overcome Biggest Rival In Volleyball Game

Members of Washington-based school’s volleyball team claim that team bonding activities really helped them win their final against their rival school. Borgia’s junior libero, by the name of Paige Lynn claims that their nail-biting 26-24, 26-24 win over their rival O’Fallon Christian was a result of the team bonding activities that they had taken up 48 hours prior. It all started on their family farm in the nearby city of Labadie, she says.

Another member of the team, Kaylee Parks, also states how their team building is necessary for them to win big games and gets them in the right frame of mind, with everyone coherently working towards their objective of winning. These players gathered at the farm and spent some time on a hay ride, cooking up some smores and watching some horror movie. Even their coach condones this behaviour stating that it’s a classic tradition at their school.

Another classic tradition in Borgia is winning. This isn’t the first time that this school has won. It is actually their 20th successive title even though their rival school was the top seeded to win the title this year. Now this school is moving out of the District to the Sectional play and will soon be playing against the winning team of District 5. This is how teams are made. It isn’t just teamwork on the court that keeps them together. It is a sense of belonging inculcated in the team’s members with team building activities like these that keep their focus and unity strong.

The team’s playing statistics show how they held a balanced attack with many of the teammates showing up with impressive kills and spikes. Most people didn’t really think that Borgia could win the title a record 20th time, what with their abysmal performances in the beginning of the season, but with this nerve-wracking win over O’Fallon Christian, they have definitely proved a point. This also seems to be the best time for Borgia to be hitting a winning streak, as they will now play in the sectionals or quarter-finals, after which they will move to the semi-finals and finally on to the finals where they will battle to be the best women’s volleyball team in America.

Public Wall Art At The Brantford Public Library Serves As Important Message Of Group Of Seven

On Monday, October 23rd, a group of people revealed an amazing piece of art dedicated to Lawren Harris, a much celebrated artist from the Group of Seven. This piece of wall art was made on one of walls along the western side of the Brantford Public Library, and serves as an important reminder of who this is. It is said that back in the day, artists had as much influence over the city’s culture as its renowned sportspeople. Therefore this mural or wall art served to show the residents of the city just how important Lawren Harris was for the city’s growth.

This artwork was actually chosen from around 21 entries to showcase the end of the Lawren Harris Art Project. The unveiling of this painting also marks the end of the Lawren Harris art week, where a bunch of activities were organized to commemorate this esteemed artist. The 21 entries came from all across North America and this particular entry was chosen for its social impact on community, uniting them in this artwork. This entry was submitted by an artist from Brantford itself, Dave Hind, who submitted it along with his team, the Aluminium Quilting Society.

Onto the artwork itself, it is a massive piece of art that contains seven figure huddled around a fire. One of these figures represents Lawren Harris himself, and the other six figures represent the rest of the group of seven, who are other individuals and industry members who had an impact on the city. To be precise, the other six figures include the poet Pauline Johnson, Chief Deskhaheh who is a Haudenosaunee hereditary, Cockshutt Plow Works, artist Arlene Laskey and a representation of the indigenous women and children of the land.

Each of the figures was painted by a separate individual from the group, and each of the figures also have diverse backstories incorporated in their histories. Hind says that while he was working on the wall art, he couldn’t tell how the final product would turn out.  He would just concentrate on his figure and wait till the others finished theirs. Overall though, this campaign turned out to be a huge success.

Master Plasterer In San Antonio Recognized For His Works

It is not every day that commercial plasterers in Sydney are given their due recognition for the work they do. They work at various establishments and their works may be appreciated but their names are eventually forgotten in history. A master plasterer, Harold Kempfer, is known as one of the legendary plasterers in San Antonio’s long history. The decorative plasters he made are evident in various parts of the city such as in residential homes located in King William, Monte Vista and Olmos Park, Majestic Theatre and The Playhouse, Gunter Hotel, Sunset Depot and the Municipal Auditorium.

Kempfer is the proud owner of Harold’sArt and Plaster Craft on the South Side. He passed away two months ago but his legacy lives on.

He is often contracted because of his expertise in plaster casting. He is the first choice among homeowners and architects if they want to have unique and original designs for their properties while conservationists rely on him when it comes to reproducing lost and damaged structures.

During the late 90s, the train station located at St. Paul’s Square undergone a restoration and Kempfer was commissioned to create decorative details both on the interior and exterior. He was working with another plasterer, Jim Coronado, and he shared how they have to rely on architectural drawings as well as photographs in order to recreate the missing ornamental pieces of the train’s window.

Their tag team was also the people behind the smaller rosettes that can be found on the inside ceiling of the train station. He estimated that they created around 100 of those roses that hold a small light bulb.

Before he relocated to San Antonio, Kempfer learned the art of plaster casting from his mentors who are both Italian artisans based in Chicago and Milwaukee. At the beginning, he only painted figurines made of plaster with Buddha as the most in demand. It was only in 1958 that he launched his own business.

Many of the beginner and commercial plasterers in Sydney can learn from Kemfer’s dedication and passion for the art of plaster casting.

Indirect Manner Of Tyre Recycling

Tyres are used in every vehicle and the fact is that tyres on the Gold Coast sell as fast as other products because of the need for replacement. When replaced, the old ones are sent to be recycled but many get stuck on a pile for months and years. For locals in New Zealand, regardless if they are driving or not, the pile just keeps getting higher as the year goes by.

They have now reached a point where the tyres that are expected to be recycled by the industry are only set on a discussion that never stops. They try to divert the issue and pay the fees required but they never resolve the issue head-on.

In other countries, old tyres are recycled and transformed into various things such as synthetic fabric while others are employing it on road surfacing. The process is costly but the fact is that the nation which is considered as an eco-friendlyis still unable to solve the current problem.

During disposal, each tyre comes with a collection fee of about $3 to $5. Tyre centres in the country have a lot of tyres to be disposed but the tyre disposal facilities in charge are not coming by to collect and issue an invoice. Disposal of truck tyres are more costly compared to car tyres. The problem is that once they have been picked up, they don’t know what to do with them.

One expert said that there is no business profit when it comes to recycling tyres but collection offers a lot of money.

There are risks when tyres are collected in one place and one of them is fire. Fires caused by tyres are not easy to stop and it has a huge impact to the environment. Fire services also admitted that one of their ongoing problem included tyre fires.

As the merry-go-round of failures and ticketing in the tyre disposal business continues to happen in New Zealand, old tyres on the Gold Coast are being managed by recycling facilities that recognize the effects of the waste on the environment.
